I like how the guy took the camera for what it was and made the best of it. It’s like he understands taking photos is for everyone and just because you dont have the best of equipment doesn’t mean you cant have fun and get some good photos aswell. Every family should have at least a shoe-box full of photos to look at., Nomatter if its nothing but someone standing in the yard.

@molinobeer But once the 400,000 shutter cycles are up and the shutter stops working you just take it for servicing and get the shutter replaced. You’ll probably only ever lose about 10 or 20% value on this camera over the next 5 or 10 years if you bought one new.
why is everyone after 5D mk3.. don’t you guys understand that this is the flagship model, and there will definitely be some sacrifices made to bring the prices under the 3k bracket…

400000 shutter cycles, the price is around 6800$, this means that for every shooting session, like this grand-prix coverage (around 1000 shots) you take of your camera (400000/6800*1000)=17$ in value, around 1.7cents per shot.

I’m the proud owner of a 7D and 550D (T2i in the states) which are used in my video production company. After watching this video, I see NO NEED to trade them in/sell them and jump on the 1D X bandwagon. I prefer cropped sensors for movies which are actually closer to the 35mm frame of motion picture film. The 5D mk II while beautiful, looks too big with alot of depth of field. Increasing record time while nice isn’t that big a deal since we’ve learned to manage the 12 minute record time.
Is this Canons best effort? I know it’s early days yet but on the quality of the stills and vids I’ve watched from the Canon EOS 1Dx it appears the SONY ALPHA 77 doesn’t have a challenger from this camera.

yeah Frits it’s especially helpful with your pinky in front of lens… and Canon have obviously NOT managed to get auto focus to work in video mode.. how f-ing hard is it to go to Panasonic and buy the damn auto focus system off them because they have figured out how to get auto focus working on a mirrorless system which is what you have with the mirror up in video mode…
